We all have same 24 hours each day, yet you have heard yourself saying “I don't have time to do this”. Time management isn't really managing your time, it all about managing yourself. In this article, I will be helping you to overcome “I don't have time to do this” and learn how to own all of your time.

Fundamentally, we are always in control of our time and at any given moment we are doing what we most want to be doing. But managing your time improves the way you work, help you to avoid distraction and be more productive. While there are a lot of blogs, videos, hacks floating on internet, here are 5 time management tips.

1.To-do List & Calendar Blocking

The best combo you can have. Priorities your task and place them on calendar with time frame. If your mind does wander, a quick glance at your calendar reminds you of what you should be doing. And of course, to-do list allow you to enjoy one of life’s unique pleasures: striking your task on completing. I have a blog on time blocking.

2. Hell Yeah or No

You’ll never learn how to manage your time if you don't learn how to prioritise the task. If should be “Hell Yeah! I’m doing it” or “No”. It shouldn't be yeah or may be, you should be 100% sure of it and stick to it. Well it can be a hard skill to learn, it can do wonders for your personal time management.

3. Manage Distraction

Despite our best intentions, we all get distracted. Social media, web browsing, messages are the major ones in the list. We all have heard saying turn off your phone or close all your tabs but I know it’s hard to follow, so take baby steps. Firstly, identify your two distractions app and set a limit on them(all mobile industry are promoting digital health being). Secondly focus on conquering those for two weeks. Also you can add time block in calendar, when to use social media.

4. Daily Highlights

Set up a daily highlight, which can be an important or fun task. Your main focus should be on completing the task.

5. Don’t Procrastinate

Do you know why we procrastinate? Sometimes it's because of boring task, but often the fear of failure, people's opinion or making a decision that can be wrong. So, stop thinking about others and start doing stuff, longer you procrastinate task, more anxious and miserable you become.

Pro Tip

Getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, and eating healthy can all help you to stay focused.

Review weekly and reward yourself for being consistent. We all know the power of being consistent.
